I dont really scrape much. I have been driving lowered cars for 7 years though, so I know what to look for.
The biggest thing I am worried about on my car is the rear diffuser. It sits very low. I have scraped that 3 times. Once on a friends rock driveway (potholes from rain), once on a rough road, and once on a dip on a backroad.
Honestly if you dont have a lip, and the skunk2 exhaust sits very high in the rear, not sure about the middle (only have to worry about on speedbumps).
The drop you are looking to get is very moderate and you shouldn't have any problems at all.
Just go slow if you are unsure, and you will figure out where you can and cant go.
I have 17x9 +45 wheels all around with 255/40/17's all around.

avoid the right lane north bound on 25th ave @ north ave.
this is one example of places you will scrape in chicago even bone stock. it happens. I actually had to back out of this spot, have avoided it since then.
I always wondered why I bought an x brace
I have only scraped my exhaust on the way up on a drive on rack. I would also recommend warning your mechanic.

But even with the occasional scrape, is it that big of a deal? its not like you see the scrapes, correct? it seems every used car i see has a scraped bumper on the bottom even tall rides like a camry

Yeah but on a camry its either from some CRAZY driveway or entrance.
Or they parked it on top of a parking block.
Neither of which are even doable in a stock s2000.
But you are correct, most scrapes cannot be seen unless you get on your hands and knees, or you scraped very bady and bent the bumper up or underneath the car while doing it.
If its a horrible scrape it could spider web the paint if you have a crap paint job, which is hard to do to an OEM paint job.

yeah but thats on speedbumps, or really bad entrances, and you probably will be nowhere near low enough to do that.
Here is the ground clearance on mine. I will measure it later tonight:
But these guys drive around everywhere in Chicago / IL / etc so I think you can too:
And worse case if you have a fiberglass front bumper:
