thanks guys for all your responses....

there's obviously a lot to the story but I still think he was an asshole for doing what he did - im not mad at him for committing suicide because that was his choice - im just mad that he took the kid with him.

for the record the police are listing it as a homicide/suicide and he had threatened to do this on several occasions in the past (i just found out today).

thanks again for your input - I though I was the only one with some thought of the boy.
You should be mad at him for commiting suicide. Asshole got out easy, I have a few good friends who dropped the axe on themselves even had one childhood friend who decapitated his mom, and put her head on the front porch, people are *ng nuts, its sad, when their own insanity hurts others.

Suicide is a selfish act by nature of what it is. Taking someone with you is even worse.

Sorry to hear that Lee. I agree with you all when you say he was selfish. Life isnt easy, and how we deal with the difficulties in our lives truly determines the type of people we are. I do not sympathize with people who always want to take the short cut or the easy way out.

Rational people look at this very rational but for the people who, for whatever reason, commit such acts, it is NOT a rational decision. They are not in touch with reality; if they were, they would never do it. So we can only help those who we can, and help them think it throuugh, if we can. Beyond that, it is in God's hands.
