The armpit of the midwest? No thanks. I'll just pay the ticket for no front plate.

As I understand it, the front plate serves mainly as a flat surface perpendicular to the direction the car is travelling for the cops to aim their radar guns at when you're hauling ass towards them; when those beams hit a rounded front bumper they bounce off all wacky-like and don't read true.

Or at least that's what I read on the internet... so it MUST be true...

WI is also a front-plate required state but nobody gives a $hit up here. I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for this offense in the great MKE... and Milwaukee is the Hawaii of the Midwest, after all...

I hope the law passes too... being from MI, I never ran fronts, plus both my cars lack the mounting braket for the fronts.

As I understand it, having a flat spot to aim a speed detector at, is only for Lidar. Radar works with any surface (as long as it can get an angle on the object).

Even then, you have LIDAR Diffusors and scramblers that can be used legally.

I would ticket a car with a license plate in the window before I ticketed a car with no plate at all.

Plate in the front window looks worse than the plate on the car.

According to this, "laser jamming devices" are prohibited in IL:

There are only a handful of cops who use LIDAR or "laser" and there is no way for a cop to tell if the laser is sending back a error or a actual jamming error. But jammers only work if the line of sight hits the actual jammer...

Then again if you get caught by one in the City, well its thrown out... http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2009/no...ickets-09-nov09
