how to sell a car?

I think for the condition, mods, and mileage....you're at a great price. However, this is just the surface I'm judging off of. The car may not show as well, or may show better.
Just get the word out to the other forums, and the Cars for Sale forum here. You're really at a pretty good price if the car is in good to excellent condition.

If you have the stock parts, Id put those back on first. Then take it to carmax and get an offer in writing.
You can always get rid of your parts, which are pretty straightforward(no mugen hardtops etc...) and could easily sell for some extra cash.
Then you know what your lowball point is. Sell it on cars.com, autotrader, even ebay, but never price it lower than carmax. Craigslist and the like are good too.
Maybe take your carmax price add 2k-3k and work down from there(but might not gain too much interest). OR take the carmax price add $1000 and be firm on your price.
For the miles you are not at a bad price point, some "MAY" be turned off by the pre-02 back window.

I'm sure carmax will lowball you a crappy offer, but its always an offer. As an FYI, last year when I sold my 02, carmax offered me 13.5K on my 02 with 55k miles bone stock.
I traded it in at a dealership for 15.5. I could have sold it for $17~18K private party at the time, but the tax savings made up for the extra effort of selling the car on my own.

Autotrader is simply awesome.
There can be a 1-2 week waiting period before people catch on, but once they do, the calls and emails don't stop.
I just sold an Audi TT that way, and it was worth every penny.
All I got from craigslist was lowballers and high-ons and people who make offers over the phone without seeing the car first.

autotrader.com sold my 01 prelude w/ 12k miles in 3 days for the price I was asking. At of the sites like H-T, Craigslist, even this site, people are less likely to offer you more because they are either cheap or they know what market rate is on a comparable. Autotrader caters to all car buyers not just S2K enthusiasts.
tcho is right, you can sell some of your parts to recoup your cost. General rule of thum, aftermarket parts do not add to the value except for some things like wheels, hardtop etc.

I listed my '00 s2000 on ebay, Craigslist, and also this site a couple months back. If memory serves me correctly I got $16k or maybe $15.5k...can't remember. I got TONS of phone calls and emails.
I ended up selling the car from Craigslist.
