How much did you pay to get tires mounted?
I bought Blizzacks from Tirerack.com and then took them to the Firestone by Woodfield mall. I called them first to get a quote and I told the guy that I had bought the tires on-line. He quoted me $64 for all 4 tires.
Then I take my car in and the guy says it's going to be more expensive because they're low profile tires and I didn't buy the tires from them. It ended up costing me $128 w/ tax and balancing for all 4 tires.
Where and how much did you guys pay to have your tires mounted? Did I get ripped off?

$128 is pretty stiff for mounting and balancing. Just Tires was about the same, last time I went there they charged me more for 17 inch "oversize" wheels on my wrx. pathetic. Discount tire's prices were also terrible.
I found a local place in carol stream, Bartels Auto that mounted and balanced a set for $48. But lately they've been tough to work with for various reasons.
If I ever run into a tight spot I hit the Just Tires on Gary Ave. and Army Trail. They're a bit pricey, but they've always done what I asked without excuses.

Yeah, thats what these companies are doing now. Because they know people are getting tires online for cheaper, they are killing you on mounting balancing, and disposal.
Discount tire will charge you about 15-20$ per tire to mount and balance.
The cheaper places generally have crappier tire machines, not designed to protect the rim lips. So be weary of that.
Also ask up front if they warranty your rims against damage from mounting error. If they say no dont go there.

Local S2Kers should check out Donnie B over at Discount Tires in Glendale Heights. They are on North Avenue just east of Bloomingdale Rd.
He works there and is a member here. Ask him for S2K UMW pricing.

As close as you folks are to the Tire Rack, I'm surprised that you don't go there. I gladly drive three hours each way to go to their facility. The service I receive there is the best that I have seen anywhere.
I just bought a set of tires for my new Volk LE28N's and they mounted and balanced them and there was not a mark on any of the wheels. Did I mention that I also saved $170 on the whole purchase? Discount Tire had the best local price, but the Tire Rack beat their price substantially.
Jim has been taking care of me for years.

driving 300 miles round trip in rush hour traffic is a long way to go to save maybe 50$
My local discount tire beat tire rack's price on S03s, and that even included mounting and balancing.
Depends on who you deal with.

What have you been smoking lately?
I guess that you have more choices locally (in Chicago) than I do in Indy.
