Honda care rejected me

I also had a bad honda care experience. I dont mean to hijack your thread, I just thought i'd share my problem as well:
Brought my car to Howard Cooper in Ann Arbor for a standard maintenance 2-3 months after I bought the car and asked if they would take a look at my clutch which started feeling quite soft lately. Obviously if there's something wrong I want to get it fixed under the certified used warranty.
Howard Cooper says that yes, indeed, the clutch is wearing out and that it needs to be replaced. They also inform me that it is a wear and tear item and is therefore not covered. I explained to them that I JUST got the car and I think it's total BS that I have to shove over $1200 right when I bought the damn thing. They agreed and did more "research" only to come back and tell me that they're sorry there's nothing they can do.
Fine, so I call the dealer where I bought the car (brighton) and asked if they could help. They were sympathetic to my problem as well but also said there is nothing they can do and I should call Honda Care directly and ask if they can help me out.
So I call honda care and they just tell me it's wear and tear so it's my problem and I have to pay for it. They say I can open a ticket with American Honda Customer Support if i'd like to push it further.
So I open a ticket explaining the situation, also informing them that my family has bought 9 hondas in the last 10 years so they might want to keep us happy as customers and they will indeed lose business if they dont make good on this.
Well I got a call after a week and am informed that the clutch is wear and tear and not covered under my warranty, so they're not willing to pay a penny. Wow thanks Honda, I didn't realize that.
I called the dealer in Brighton one more time, and the head service guy (who is really nice btw) talked with his district manager and got back to me saying sorry there's nothing he can do.
So there you have it. I bought this certified used Honda that is supposed to be thoroughly checked over to Honda's standards and it already needs $1200 put into it. I promise I will never buy a certified used honda ever again. I would like to say i'll never buy a honda again to prove a point, but i'm afraid I can't do that - I like the cars too much

The fact you bought a used car with a bad clutch is your fault a clutch would not get soft after two months unless you burned it up.
Likely, it was weak when you got it and did not notice.
Any company would deny the warranty on that.

Sounds like the warranty should be called "Honda doesn't Care".
It has been my experience, 10+ years at a multi-line car dealership, that many places would like nothing more than to cover your work. Problem is there are quite a few technicians that are nothing more than "certified parts swappers" who would rather do easy customer pay work (brake jobs, CEL diagnosis, 15, 30, 60, 90k services, you know the stuff you pay alot of hours that take the tech quite a bit less time to actually do) than take on an aftermarket warranty claim.
Warranty claims pay a set amount hours wether it takes all day or just a few minutes. Usually they are the former rather than the latter. So, if you are a tech, what would you do? "Hey service writer, I don't want to do this diff because it only pays 4.4 hours and it's gonna take me all day." "Why don't you call Honda care and tell them it's got rims on it and we'll push it outside so I can pull that Accord in for a 60k and front brakes?" Happens all day, every day.
I will give everyone this piece of advice, manufacturer based, aftersale warranties are the worst you can get. Others like AutoOwners, Wynns and the like, are much less stringent on what they will cover with regard to mods on your car. They put the fear of god in you that some claims adjuster is going to come out and look at your car is something happens. In my 10 years here I have seen a claims adjuster once. They are also more flexible on what they will pay to do a job. Usually much more willing to work with you on quality parts too.
Just my $.02 but Id cash out that Honda doesn't Care and get something else. It's too bad like health insurance, they don't cover pre-existing conditions. Good Luck bro!!

Since when does anyone replace brakes or clutches under warranty unless they were installed improperly?

No I did not burn the clutch up. I baby my car and this is not this my first manual transmission so i'm not learning on it. Nor have I ever "launched" the car. Not even once.
I'll tell you why they would want to replace the clutch, or at least offer a deal like half price: to keep the customer happy. The fact is, I bought this Honda and very soon afterwards I have to pay $1200 in repairs. This does not make for a nice car-buying experience and a lot of people are going to hear about it.
When someone orders a dish at a nice restaurant and doesn't like the way it tastes, does the restaurant say "too bad, that's what you ordered." No, they take it back and bring them something new. They eat up the cost of the dish in order to keep their customer happy so they will COME BACK to the restaurant. THAT is the point.
I wouldn't be complaining if this happened a while after I had bought the car, the point is that I just got it. If their several-hundred-point expection of the car was so thorough and good, then why did this clutch go by them. These certified used cars are supposed to come almost as good as new.
You're right, it cannot be proven that I did not burn the clutch up myself. I think that is where giving the customer the benefit of the doubt is the right move in order to keep them happy.
After relating this story to my mother who is looking for a new car, she went straight to the Toyota dealership.

I brought my car into Frank Gentle in Racine.
The rear diff is now shot on my car. Just two months ago I had the drivers axle replaced for $2400 where honda care wouldn't cover it because they didnt have a tech working on sat and I had to get it fixed so I could get back to wisconsin.
Then last week the dif went. I brought the car into Gentle and they called honda care for them to ok the dif cost.
The first thing honda care asked the dealer is are there any mods on the car. The girl said I had 18 in tires and other mods on the car, all none suspension. Mostle Mugen which does void a warranty. Honda care refused the car due to mods. I called them and asked how the mods had any impact on the dif going bad. They said they agreed and the mods had no impact, but the contract says any mods and the warranty is void. He said any mods even cosmetic would void it out.
And of course the dealer said that the work done on the axle had nothing to do with the dif.
So I had to pay 2600 and now I am goiong to tow the car back to my storage and have a winter project in fixing it.
I've had the car fixed prior to this from Honda care with the way the car is now, except for the 18 in tires. Frank Gentle said they were just doing there job, so much for customer satisfaction.
This is a major black mark for me and Honda "care" of customers. It sucks that you can't make things look or be better without have to pay the price. Even though all the things we do to our cars make the car more wanted by others. Hense more sales for Honda.

I guess they win either way.

The $2400 wasn't just for an axle. It was basically the whole Driver Rear corner. Axle, rotor, caliper, brake line, e-brake cable, sensor ... and what ever else is in that corner.
It was messed up bad ... it got to hot you could literally see through the rotor and the rotor separated into sever pices.
