Well, It was a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG day.
Overall, I am glad I went and showed the car. It was a learning experience for me. I don't know much about participating in car shows so the experience was worth it. That said, it was VERY frustrating and nerve racking for me. I am very particular and cautious with my car, and to have so many people touching the car, leaning over the car, brushing by it with their jackets (read: zippers) backpacks and bags was VERY difficult for me to deal with. The good news is I managed to NOT beat the hell out of anyone.
The overall orginization of the event was, frankly, poor overall. We were told many things that turned out to not be true. We ended up rolling in late, and washing our cars in the cold because of it. We were also told we would be let back in on Saturday at 11:00am, 1:00pm AND 2:00PM. We doublechecked the time, and we were specifically told several times that we could get back in at 1:00. No one was let in until 2:00.
The judging didn't start on time, and the lights went down earlier than expected.
All of these things are easily avoidable, and that is what was really frustrating.
Now, all that being said, I really did have a good time (despite being VERY tired by the end of the night.) There were a LOT of S2000 owners that came to hang out, and I got to talk to a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a long time. I also got to meet some new people. There were a lot of very cool cars there (and a LOT of ricey cars too. )
I was surprised by how many domestics there were at Hot IMPORT Nights. No big deal, I have some appreciation for domestics.
The show shut down at about 12:00, and we got out of the hall about 12:30. We met up with our support vehicle to get fuel, and offload some oversized items. I got home at about 1:45am. As I said earlier, it was a LONG day.
I took a lot of pictures, and I will be posting them up later today. I still have to get the car unpacked.
