The heat and AC is all controlled by the fuse box under the hood by the battery.

NOW because you mentioned unprepared garage and stuff you may want to start there. Check the fuses and relays but most importantly check the wires. Maybe an animal chewed the wire? So it slightly works but the wire is thin now so it doesn't REALLY work?

When I swapped my motor I was going to tuck some wires so I had unplugged that fuse box, and when I plugged it all back in the plug has like a jelly on it to keep water out and that picked up a tiny rock, so when I plugged it back in, it clicked but did not make 100% contact. I would hit bumps and the heater would work, then I would hit another bump and it would not. Annoying as F finding that problem! It also wouldn't let my radiator fan turn on!

Awesome, thanks for the info-- I'll check those fuses as a hopeful first-attempt. The battery was shot when I went to get it out last weekend and I put a new one in; maybe all that balking with the electrical system tripped something.

I agree-- it might be a case of animal interference; I'll have a good look at everything coming in and out of that fusebox?

That sounds like a nightmare; I'll keep an eye out for clean, well-seated contacts when I'm poking around in there.

Thanks again!

Forget checking anything...just go get yourself a Snuggie.

Top down driving in the Winter/Spring weather with a Snuggie; can't beat that with a baseball bat.

Oh and also like Urmil said check your cabin filter. My brother ran his car without a cabin filter for a few weeks when it was rainy and a lot of water dripped into his motor and fried it. It would work sometimes and not others and be really slow.
