Default Heater not working-- ideas?

So, as some of you know, the WASP came out of the garage for the first time this weekend and, as I was driving back up from Chicago with the top down I came to realize that the cabin air system wasn't working. A heater would have been really nice on that drive... I'm finally thawed out 48 hours later.

The controls light up when I turn them on and the system does push a bit of air through, very much the same as when you've got the system turned off... I guess the fan just isn't kicking in properly.

Car was stored with little to no preparation in a non-heated garage beginning in October.

Any ideas as to where to start looking?

Thanks
Charlie

Did you recently flush your radiator fluid?

If not, check your fluid levels. They may be very low.

If so, you may have air bubbles in the coolant lines. You may not have seen your temp bars go up past three or four bars on Saturday's drive back to MKE because you were moving and the ambient temps were still cool.

I'd try burping the coolant lines.

The next, and worse, situation could be that your heater core took a dump on you. May need to find a replacement and lots of time to replace it if you're going to do it youself.

At the very least get a Mugen radiator cap. Your problems will most likely go away after that.

Haha, OK I'll start trolling the FS forum.

I flushed the coolant last spring; made very sure to burp it properly. I'll definitely check the level and try it again.

The system wouldn't push cold air through either, though; would that still be related?

Thanks for your help!

Something may be wrong with the blower motor...also have you checked your cabin filter?

Also, make sure the heater valve opens and closes when you turn the nob on the dash.

Go S2ki UMW Group go!
