Default Discount Tire vs Belle Tire

I always used to go to Discount Tire in Ann Arbor, the fellas there seem to know what they are doing, and i've never had tire balancing issues there. they always use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts, instead of air guns so that's always a good sign.

does anyone have any feedback on belle tire? my friend who owns a Audi S4 says belle tire is excellent.. comments?

Do you feel a need to switch?

I can recall making two purchases from Belle Tire (here in Royal Oak on Woodward) without complaints. I bought a set of rims and tires on a '91 CRX that I use to own -- that was a while ago, probably ~ 1996. Then in November 2004, I bought a new set of summer tires from them for my '02 Audi A4. I have to say that I don't know if they were using air guns or not. I have dedicated winter wheels and tires on my A4 (that I got from Tirerack), and at the time, the summers were not installed on my car, I just threw the rims in the back of my old pickup truck and took them to the store -- they didn't install any wheels on the car for me. I haven't had any balancing issues in either case. Actually, this will be my last season on my current winter tires, I'll likely go back there again in the summer and have them put new rubber on my winter wheels.

Just make sure they put the rear wheels on the rear and the front wheels on the front.

Right Donnie?

I have been going to Discount Tire in A2 for many years. I have never had a bad experience, and really like their tire warranty. I had a string of bad luck several years ago where I kept getting flats on my Integra (ran over a bolt, a large nail, etc) and every time they either patched the tire, or gave me a brand new one, 100% free each time. I ended up with 2 new ones, and a patched one.

I've only gone to Belle Tire (right next door!) a few times, and only for alignments. While they haven't screwed up the alignments, the whole place just seems shadier. It's really a case of someone saying "how can we help you today"(Disc. Tire) vs "what do you want" (Belle Tire).

For what it's worth, my dad always goes to Belle Tire on the west side of A2 and thinks they're great.
