I've never auto-crossed so I cannot comment, but open track days will benefit you much more track time (about 2 hours total for the day) and higher speeds (90+ mph on the straight away). Plus this is a really reasonable event fee ($100). Just do it

Sorry, Christopher, but roadracing isn't the same as track days, either. Sure, it's cheap, but it doesn't do it for me w/o wheel-to-wheel competition. Autocrossing, to me, is a completely different skill set.

Besides, if I'm on a racetrack, I'd rather be wearing leather instead of nomex
