I've noticed a cold start noise at the end of the "starting" cycle that seems to be emanating from the starter. This noise, almost like a slow whirr, happens exactly at the time the starter gear would normally disengage. It's happened a few times when it was really cold out and has not re-occured if and when the car has been driven and is at normal operating temp. Am I right to classify this as a cold-start issue only, nothing to be fazed about or am I to assume a starter issue developing and needing attention at some near point in time?
Anyone else with a similar experience that can spread some light on this issue?

It's the throw-out bearing in the clutch - the grease is cold, your transmission fluid is cold, so the t/o complains. If you're still getting the noise when it's warm, then it's an issue. Mine only does it when it's below 20 F.
