Chicago Indoor Racing Meet!
Gaging interest at a meet sometime in July at Chicago Indoor Racing (chicagoindoorracing.com). Please post if you want to race asap so I can make reservations.
This meet would be open to anyone, not just S2k owners. We will need a minimum of 8 people to commit to racing.
Here's some details for those that don't know about this awesome place
What: Indoor go-kart track. The experience is not like the crappy lawn mowers they pass off as go-karts at mini-golf places. This is actual racing, similar to the carting every F1 driver has done since they were a fetus. The cars top out at just over 35mph, but since you are low to the ground, it feels twice as fast. They're honda engines too! Racing techniques also apply in this environment. They also provide you with a race suit and helmet (although you can bring your own).
Where: Chicago Indoor racing in Buffalo Grove, IL (off of Lake Cook rd, between 83 and 21).
How much: I got an email from the CIR events coordinators with their July special rates.
Grand Prix: $65 per person
Super Grand Prix: $90 per person
Track 3 Grand Prix: $90 per person
Track 3 Super Grand Prix: $115 per person
Who: Have to be 18 and valid drivers license to race. Races are minimum 8 people. Bring your friends and family to race or to watch.
When: Tentative Date - July 22. Track 3 is only available on the following dates July 1, 16, 22, 25 & 29th

i'm up for it, or down with it, or game for it, whateverthe****ever.... count me in.
weekends only for me though.
how long do these sessions go for? i have only ever done the cheapo mini putt-putt golf go karts. i would imagine it lasts longer then 3 minutes?? 15 min runs? 30 minutes? all day?

A grand prix is 3 qualifying rounds of 15 laps. Then there is a 30 lap race.
A super grand prix is 3 qualifying rounds of 25 laps and a 35 lap race.
The track 3 I mentioned earlier is the combination of track 1 and 2, so your laps are almost twice as long as they would normally be.
While the amount of time on track may not be huge, you'll definitely feel it. Adrenaline is pumping and you get tired. We've even had people sit out a race because they were tired.
Everyone usually thinks it's overpriced before they go into it - but then change their mind after

I'm interested and can scrounge up some folks. Not avail for the 7/20-22 weekend (will be at Laguna Seca for MotoGP event) and I have one other weekend (not sure which, though) where I'm distracted. Otherwise, I'm there, baby!

I should be able to make it. But would probably depend on the date. If I can't go I have tons of game cards left from last year that I can give to someone who will go.(They are leftover from a corporate outing, everyone gave their leftover cards to me since they would probably never go back.)
