Sometime's you have to wait at the Weiner's Circle...but that's another one that's totally worth the wait.

is the quality of the food really why people go there? i thought it was one of those experiences you need to have once in Chicago, but after that... if you happened to find yourself nearby in the very early hours of the morning and for some odd reason had a particular craving for greasy food right now, it fit the bill.
Also, another great hot dog mention is Poochie's.
I've never seen a line there, but if there was one, it'd be worth the wait.

Hotdogs? What's the obsession? Really? j/k
I tend to stay away from them as a rule, but will have a Kosher based one, once in a while.

I don't mean to thread-jack, but...
Given the heated debate over hot dogs, I think we should set up a Hot Dog Meet someday for those of us (me) who are apparently eating sub par dogs.
A nice sunny day and lots of driving from joint to joint just to rate them. It's a day sure to amount to no less than 4000 calories and at least 1 heart attack, but it could be fun.

I'd be TOTALLY down for a tour of CHI hot dogs...
And, to stay on topic, last time I came down and stayed with Garrison (K1ngfunk) we had breakfast at a little diner that was featured in Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (I LOATHE guy fieri but he does find some good places); if you're looking for cheap breakfasty food you might try PMing him for the name. Sorry if somebody already mentioned this joint... as I don't know the name it's hard for me to tell if I'm reposting.
Cheers
Charlie

As far as the place Charlie is referring to, it's called White Palace Grill on the corner of Canal and Roosevelt. They are open 24 hours, and I've spent both my fair-share of 2am food runs and hungover Saturday mornings there.
I personally prefer Pizzeria Uno / Due to Lou Mal's, but that's just me.
We definitely have some great info here.

Not to toot my own horn, but if that's the case, I think I should just host a dog-day at my house. I make the best char-dog out there!

Hebrew National is not as good, but has to do.
