Default Brake Pad Wear

Is it normal for the rear pads to go much more quickly than the fronts ?

I changed all 4 corners and noticed the rears were almost completely gone while the fronts had about 1/3 of their life left.

No.

Typically the rears last twice as long as the fronts. Weird.

Maybe it's my fatass putting all the weight on the rear !

BTW pete, I also replaced the brake hoses with SS versions. No major problems other than having to run out and get a 10mm flare wrench as the bolts to the solid brake lines were beggining to strip as they were really stuck.

That's really odd. Are you the only owner of the car?

Well, I burned through the rear brakes on my Z06 first, but I think it had more to do with my traction control system not liking trail braking than my fat ass. However, you do present an interesting theory.

Actually, I think I would check the setting on the handbrake. If it does not completely release it could cause the wear you are seeing. I find it very hard to believe you have a proportioning problem sending more pressure to the rears. With no TCS on the S, it's the only thing I can think of that would cause the wear you experienced.

I guess next time I go to the dealership I will have them check the E-brake.

Nope, I have never driven around with the e-brake on.

Yeah, I bought the car new.
