Body shop in/near Crystal Lake
My wife got hit pretty hard on the driver's side front door/fender, and it's pretty beat up all down the drivers side. Everyone's okay, fortunately, had it towed in Crystal Lake, need a good autobody shop. Neighbor recommended RK, Yelp suggests Precision Body Works. USAA wants Gerber, but no. I've used A & L before in Palatine, but that's a long tow. Any thoughts?

Many, many years ago when we had one of our first fender benders on our s2000, we used Collision Specialist on Rt14, just west of Rt. 31.
Ours was Berlina Black at the time. They did a Fantastic job seeing that there weren't many shops that had experiences working on S2Ks at the time.
We had the driver side door and driver side fender replaced and paint matched...not blended.
Since then, I've used a few good body shops, a few ones to stay away from. I, HIGHLY, recommend P&L; they aren't close and aren't cheap. However, if you're looking for something close, check out Collision Specialist.

So how does this work, my car is currently in tow storage in Crystal Lake, will my insurance truck it out to Palatine to A&L? If they will, I'll do that, but I really don't want to pay to have it towed...

Apologies, 'A&L'.
Depends who your insurance is with. A&L works with the larger companies. It's YOUR choice of where your car goes, not the insurance company's. Like all things else, everything is negotiable; I'd insist that the insurance have the adjuster work with A&L. Realistically, from where about we live (I'm in Algonquin), A&L isn't that far. It's less than 20 miles. If there's an issue with it, give Anthony at A&L a call; he'll try to work something out with you on the tow.

I probably won't be there for a couple weeks, but sure! He did a great job on my NfR S a few years ago, and one of these days I'm going to have him repaint my front bumper which looks like it got hit with a shotgun blast of rock salt
