Forgot to mention - next time you see me, get one of my business cards and you get $10 off your first NASA-X event.

You can find the detailed classing rules here: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules
but I'll give a quick breakdown for S2000's.

Base Class
AP1 - NXD**
AP2 - NXC
CR - NXC**
Each asterisk(*) = 7 points

Moving up classes
20 - 39 points = move up 1 class
40 - 59 points = move up 2 classes
60 - 79 points = move up 3 classes
etc.

Points for common mods
Intake = 1 pt
Header = 2 pts
Remove catalytic converter = 1 pt
Exhaust = 2 pts
Springs = 2 pts
Shocks = 3 to 10 pts (depending on type)

FI and Swaps
Forced induction and engine swaps are classed based on power to weight ratio. For NASA track competition, they require dyno sheets and random weigh-ins. Since this is a snaller scale, we are most likely going on an honor system. I'll double check that though.

Tires
We are separating R-compounds and into a "Pro" class. We hope this will give novice and casual autocrossers a better chance to compete.
You have a base tire width for your base class
- TTD = 245
- TTC = 255
- If you use a wider tire, you take points
- If you use a narrower tire, you can subtract points
- If you use a lower treadwear rating tire, you take points

My race car build as an example:
2006 Honda S2000 = TTC
Header = +2
Test Pipe = +1
Exhaust = +2
Shocks = +3
Springs = +2
Hoosier R6 R-compounds = +10
225 width = -7 (negative 7)
Total = +13
Since I didn't go past the 19 pt limit, I'm still in TTC

Not for NASA-X. But if you work some track days, you can earn points toward track days.

Sounds fun. Def in for a few.

I'm just going to award my car +75 pts. There is no reason to classify it anything near competitive in this...I'm just going for the fun!

Pat, this is a great idea, I'll have to try to do a few of these this year. Certainly a great way to get more people involved. I think that location is fairly equidistant from much of the UMW.

BTW how many mod points for a non OEM hard top

(for those not familiar with NASA, the hardtop reference above is a joke)
