Autocross 5/25 - Portage, IN
I autocrossed yesterday and I'm already looking forward to next week.
I've never run with INR SCCA, but from what I hear from Rev9K27, they are a pretty good group. Relaxed and about 8 runs.
I'm really going to try to make this one and, if I can get my ABS working, I'm going to try to head to Gingerman with CGI motorsports on the 26th (Portage, IN is on the way to Gingerman if you're coming from Chicago).
So far, I've mostly seen the "regulars" at autocrosses. Where is everyone else?

Yes. We are a pretty relaxed group.
I'm glad you're planning on attending Patinum.
Feel free to pre-register online.
I will be there.
If anyone needs specific directions ... let me know.

Pat, I have Sunday off, and would love to come. I don't have a helmet yet, though, so what should I do in that regard (and perhaps any other prep work)?

Rev9K27 - does INR-SCCA have loaner helmets?
Garrison - sounds good. FYI though, my plan is to try to continue on to Michigan after the autocross for a track day on Monday. So I wouldn't be able to cruise back with you.
We can talk more off-line, but concerning helmets, you have a couple of options (if they don't have loaner helmets).
1) Borrow my helmet. Since sharing helmets is just about as gross as sharing running shoes, you can wear one of the head socks I "borrowed" from CIR.
2) Buy a relatively inexpensive motorcycle helmet locally. Motorcycle helmets are a bit cheaper than Car helmets and are usually approved for autocrosses but not always kosher with track days.
3) Buy a car helmet locally. This is a bit more of an investment ($300 or so), but your head is pretty important. There's a shop in the burbs - northstar motorsports (.com) where I bought my helmet years ago.
Other than that, you should be good to go.

They usually have plenty of loaner helmets available.
I have not ever seen them run out of the loaners during an event yet.
However, I would bring the head sock just in case.
As far as the other car prep stuff. Just make sure your battery is secure,
no loose stuff in the car, brake fluid clean, and the tire pressure is sufficient
(I will be bringing my portable compressor if you need to borrow it).
If you want to research more info on car prep, feel free to do a search on this
site. It has lots of info concerning racing your S.
One other thing ... I would try to get there between 8 and 8:30.
That will give you plenty of time to get ready. And if you are not
a SCCA member, you will have to get a temporary membership there.
I think that's it.
I look forward to seeing more S drivers.
I'm sure I may learn something from you guys as I am still a newbie (second year).

The last event we had a total of 38 cars.
But we usually have around 50.
BTW: The weather is suppose to be great.
So, I expect a pretty good showing this time.
Probably 50ish.

That's awesome. I think we had 60 at WCMC and we got 10 runs (WCMC doesn't take brakes though and run 3 rotating run groups).
So far I think 19 people are pre-registered. That Cayman always gives me trouble.

We do two run groups.
I don't think we will run 10 but we should have 8 total if things go smoothly.
Yes. That Cayman is Faaasst!! He usually has me by a full two seconds.
Good thing he's in a different class.
