ap2 with 4.77 FD
I am looking to do a new final drive for my ap2 and i am having a hard time deciding on what to do lol. I have read 4.77 on an ap2 is too aggressive and i have also read its fine. I do not have a second car so the s2000 is my DD.
anyone actually have this setup want to give your opinion?

this is the thread that makes me think they are ok for an ap2 lol

but the rest of them are always 4-8 pages of people saying 4.77 in an ap2 is dumb.

4.77 in my AP1 was aggressive, I couldn't imagine having it in my AP2.

I had 4.77s in my Ap2... and, well, it depends... if it's your DD, I'd advise against it... however, as a fun/summer/dragon car, it's perfect in my book..
For those that have driven Ap1s through the Dragon, you have the nice luxury of running chunks of the Dragon in 2nd gear... with Ap2, you are either bouncing off the rev limiter, or bogging down in 3rd..... 4.77s, you can run through those areas in 3rd and immediately pull away...
Downside...... you are running higher revs (must get yellow box to calibrate btw), and you are sucking down about a gallon of fuel difference per stop.. (I validated this by sticking with a stock ap2 on the way to the dragon... two stops.. 1 gallon off both times). Durability may be an issue (I had no problems, but then again, I only had them for a few years). Also, it's a bit louder since you are running higher revs (especially on the highway).
If I could do it again, I'd get 4.77s... if I were to daily drive, I'd go 4.56/7's.
Oh, and I had 0 track time on the car with 4.77s so I can not comment on that.. and I also can't comment on losing top speed due to gearing.. I don't need to going that fast to begin with..
My $.02
