Default Any good body shops for painting front bumper?

I just recently purchased an 03 SPA YELLOW and just would like to say this FORUM kicks ass!! I've had many of my questions answered by reading your comments and I am very impressed on how nice and helpful everyone is....pretty tight group......

I was wondering if anyone in the Chicago area was happy with the color matching done when they had the front bumper repainted? Any recommendations?

I was also in the market for a different bumper if the plan was to paint the original why not get something different?//....just thinking about spending a few bucks more to improve the appearance further.....

Any good bargins out there for a cool looking front end?...nothing to drastic, but something that gives the car a more aggresive character

There may be an '04 front bumper and lip for sale....ask S2000GT. He's a very good friend of mine.

BTW, UMW people, welcome naseeb to the group. Amul is a friend of mine for quite some time and we should expect to see him at our meets and drives once spring comes around.

Give me a call, I can give you the low down on different bumpers and such.

If you want yours to get repainted, one of the best shops around is Body Shop of Barrington. He's close to your house and does great work. The majority of cars that come thorugh his shop are high end MB's, BMW's, and the everday Ferraris.

Another shop that does great work is the shop that Road Rash went to. He got into an accident earlier in the summer and the repair work and paint is spectacular...can't even tell that he can't drive .

Nationwide Autobody in Schaumburg is where I went for my rear bumper. And im pretty sure thats where Shawn went for his "job." They did a great job on both cars.

If that's the case....STAY THE F*CK away from Nationwide and a few others in Schaumburg.

Trust me, stay close to the house and just go over to Body Shop of Barrington. Talk to the owner, Paul. In fact, he's got another member's car in his shop at this moment (I'm not saying who....and no, not mine).

Sh*t....you guys know how to respond........thanks for all the inputs...

a little background on my purchase....

I got a pretty good deal on this 03( at least I think I did).....it has 15K miles on it ..made sure it wasn't in a reck and had a body shop near my house check it out.....completely clean car mechanically and body wise......it looks like the dealer tried to repaint the bumper to cover the dings and I can tell under a florescent light in my garage that it was repainted. If I am in normal sunlight...you wouldn't notice it that much unless I pointed it out..
I find this annoying, and I'm pretty anal about this sort of stuff...I can assume most of you would be as well....

I wanted to get a decent font end and if I was planning on getting the OEM repainted, I might as well just buy a new bumper and get that painted?
What do you guys think?

BTW: I noticed since I haven't had much experience with the s2000 shifter, that it seems to get harder when it get could to shift from 1 to 2 , and 2 to 3....once it warms up, it get's better..............it feels notchy if you know what i mean.
The dealership said it was normal........I read on this site, that using a GM syncro product would help with the notchiness?
Am I being anal , again?

All in all the car kicks ass.......I went about 7K RPM but didn't notice a VTEC kick....maybe its already in VTEC by that time......have they smoothed out the VTEC engagement in the latter models......

MAybe I will have one of you guys drive the car and tell me how VTEC really should feel

Later,
Amul

Amul -

to the site

any friend of Urmils is......as unlucky as I am! (only joking buddy!)

w.r.t the front end...it will be cheaper to just get your painted (obviously). There isnt that much choice out there for full front ends - penty of options on lips though. It all depends on what you are looking to get - try looking in the gallery to see what other people have.

Look forward to seeing you at a meet sometime - and post up some pics!

No....this is the guy that you referred to me to pick up my extra OEM exhaust I had. He got into a rear fender bender in where his rear bumper is being replaced and painted.

I forgot his user name, but his real name is Arvind.

I wouldn't mind waiting to purchase a new lip and then get both painted at the same time.....

How much is a good unpainted lip, and a decent paint job....

I was quoted about $250 at the last place I had some work done on my wifes car.
They did a good job, but the car was white( amybe easer to match).......so I was wondering if anyone out there has had a yellow paint job done and was happy.........

Urmil had mentioned when I was first looking for a car a few months back that yellow is nice, but hard to match when you have to paint............well guess what, I'm in that situation, but hopefully I can get a nice paint job.

For the few number of s2k's I have seen in the Northen suburbs(Lake Zurich area), yellow wasn't one of them.

1. If the paint is so thin( from other postings)....what's the point of tripple coating?.

Looking forward to meeting all of ya's........
I drove by my parents a couple weeks back, and my dad was especially impressed with the s2K style and workmanship.......if you knew my dad, you would understand what I mean. Old fashioned engineer, always thinking everything cost more than it should......wanting good quality and price in one package.....

most people I talk to (besides all yas)..don't even know what an s2k is........about 5 months ago I was in that other boat.........glad to be on the other side.

sucks that I have only owned the car for a month, and can't really drive it much now.......I still have the insurance going, even if I can drive it once a week, it's worth the premium!!!!!
