I just found a garage near my place for $150 a month. Wow this is what chicago is about? I'll have to ride a bicycle to get to the garage
haha this is crazy

Sorry for your loss. I'm just up the street in a nicer area, but still don't like street parking my S. Thieves and people who suck at parallel parking are my concerns. I keep my daily driver on the street (or did before it got stolen in front of my work) but the S stays in a garage about 10 minutes away. If you can swing it, I'd recommend finding a garage and storing it there. I know I've seen some garages for rent in Pilsen for a fair (for chicago) price. I'd imagine it's relatively safe. Other than that, alarm is a good idea as well as seat locks.

There's some meets coming up but they are mostly in the suburbs. Off the top of my head, there's a meet at the Tilted Kilt in Woodridge on Thursday and if you're into autox (or want to get into autox) some of us will be there Saturday and/or Sunday in Gary, IN. The threads should be a few down but also check the google calendars that are stickied.

Price to pay to live in the city

Deeded parking spots in multi-car garages (e.g. condos) are somewhere around $25K and up.

I think the bike ride is worth your piece of mind and protecting your S... well that is until your current lease is up anyhow.

If breaking your lease and finding a new place with a garage is cheaper than renting out a garage until your lease is up.... well you know what to do

Sorry hear that man. I used to work in the city and my S2000 is my daily driver. I freaked out everyday thinking about either my car getting completely stolen or someone trying to steal my red/blk interior. I refuse to take my S2000 into the city anymore, the roads are way too shitty for an S2000. you can't even enjoy driving to the beaches in Chicago. all i gotta say is S2000 + Chicago = FTL, unless you live somewhere near Sheridan Rd. where you have a garage but even so, that ritzy ass area has garbage ass brick roads.
