10/11 Fall Colors Starved Rock Run!
It's that wonderful time of the year again where our engines just gobble up the cool, crisp fall air and the trees turn all sorts of wonderful colors! What better way to celebrate Fall and another season of automotive enjoyment than with another Fall colors Starved Rock Run!
As we have in the past, we'll use the route I've lined up through a nice mix of back roads and small towns following a bit of expressway cruising. Once at the park, we can do a little bit of hiking, check out the museum, and / or grab some food at the restaurant connected to the lodge.
The plan is to meet at the Century Tile and Carpet parking lot right off I-55 and route 53 around 8:30 am Saturday, 10/11. There's a gas station (Shell) and Starbucks nearby to cover various needs. I'll start explaining the route and general cruise guidelines around quarter till 9, with the plan to leave promptly at 9 am. This should put us at the park around 11 am, hopefully beating a good portion of traffic for the day.
Now, I know this seems a bit early, but I'm confident that anyone who has joined in this cruise can attest to how much fun it is to drive some great roads with some awesome people (and me
) and see some wonderful scenery. Since pictures can say 1,000 words, and you all would probably hate me rambling on further, here are some pictures from past Starved Rock cruises:
