If you want to reduce/minimize any whine from the CWP whilst improving fatigue and wear resistance send it off for shot peening and Isotropic Superfinishing also know as REM finishing. The two companies I would highly recommend are Rem Surface Engineering and Sandwell. If you want to be adventurous send it off for WPC treatment. No one in the UK is offering WPC at this time but Sandwell are looking at offering the service in the future.

Going for a lower gear will actually make the 0-60 time slower.

On standard gears you can hit 60mph in 2nd gear but with the lower gear you will need an extra gear change as you wont hit 60mph till 3rd.

(However the 0-100kmh will be slightly quicker as you need 3rd gear to hit that on standard gearing)

Is that right? According to the gear calculator, standard gearing will get you 65.6mph in 2nd, which is 105km/h http://www.turnzero....gear_calculator

The links I posted above contain some useful graphs for acceleration with the different drives.

This is also very interesting reading (assuming the website the data was garnered from is correct) http://vlsicad.ucsd....i/perf_est.html (does not work in Chrome).

5.4s was the 0-60 time that MIRA achieved for the car.

I'm more inclined to go with science rather than Evo! Might give it a GPS test tomorrow!

The "real AP2" box is shorter in 2nd, so that might be the cause of some confusion?

It tells me that I should get 58mph in second .... I don't think I get anywhere near that. I will also give it a test later, if I remember.

Just done a couple of runs in 2nd gear with a 10Hz GPS.

Max in 2nd gear 106.51 and 106.53km/h which is 66.18 and 66.19mph - so a little faster than the gear calculator tells us. At least we know that the car will easily hit 100km/h in 2nd
