Fiona - I used to a 160 S1 elise - was great fun...hence the name.

As far as my car goes - you never know...it might be for sale then but at the moment the offer from the BMW garage is looking fairly good. If they can up it a tiny bit and do me a good deal on a 330d then it might be sold (but you never know....I will keep this post updated).

Hi there AquilaEagle .

Lotusman,

No problem. Hope you get a good deal and let's hope there's as good a car as yours up for sale when I have the cash in hand.

I've had a pax ride in a 160 Elise - what a laugh!

Fiona

160 was a right blast...not great in traffic and in the end it had to go to the garage for 4 weeks as it would not keep it's idle when cold.

There is no doubt that it is more fun than the S2000 - but the Honda does so many other things so much better and overall is a much much better package. I have done just over 26,000 miles in the S2000 and nothing has ever gone wrong....I wouldn't of been able to do that in the Lotus

I know what you mean about reliability. Honda wins hands down.

Just curious what you say about your 80 mile round trip forcing you to sell the S for something a little more luxurious.

I would be doing 100 miles a day between Nottingham and Sheffield (90% M'way). Did you find the S2000 pretty poor for that kind of driving?

No - it copes with it fine and at times makes me want to remove the for sale ad....it's just that if I look at it over the next few years financially it makes a lot more sense to get a diesel.

I manage to get 29 - 31 MPG from every tank...mainly because nearly all my miles are on the motorway however that is not why I bought the car. It is 10 times better than the Lotus for that but my circumstances now dictate that the only driving I really do is to and from work - so I should really get something more suited. It's not that the Honda won't do it - just that there are better alternatives out there for motorway miles !!

Hope that makes sense !

Yes it makes sense. We also have a diesel Audi A4 that gives about 50-55 mpg yet still hoofs it along at a great pace on the motorway. Pretty comfy too.

Hope the BMW is all you want it to be and lets hope you see the light of day soon and get another sportscar

Cheers :-)
