Thumbs up ? for you UK'ers

Hey fellas, I was wondering if it is illegal for you guys to drive a left hand drive car in the UK. The reason I ask is cause a guy from the US took his S2000 to the UK with him and found out that it's illegal to drive, or that's what he say anyway. But he's selling it for a to good to be true price and was wondering if this was true. Please Let me know....

Definitely legal , but it probably needs a few minor alterations before he can get it registered here .

Left hand drive is not illegal but a car setup for America would need an SVA test and some alterations before it is legal. These cover speedometer readings (mph/kph), safety checks on tyre type, light directions etc.

It could be converted, the JDM's are.

Plenty people who are fans of American cars import them and run them happily, albeit with a few regulatory modifications/tests as mentioned above.

You also get rarer european cars over here in LHD which are cheaper, or only available in LHD ie certain Porsche, Ferrari etc. Lancia Delta Integrale was only LHD - all used perfectly legally here.

Hey, thanks fellas. Now I know this guy is full of it for the story he told me. Probably some kind of scam or something, oh well, thanks again... I was also trying to find out to see if someone can take a look and see if he actually has this car or not.
So do any of you know some kind of company that I could have them take a look at it or somewhat?

Goto www.rac.co.uk and you can order a vehicle inspection but it will cost you about $300 - $400. This will provide a complete report about the full condition of the vehicle and some advise on potential repairs that could be required.

Cheers

Shipley's right. The car will have to pass some UK tests and have afew minor alterations before being legal here. Though this won't involve moving the steering wheel.

Do you know where the car is? Someone on the board may be willing to have an informal look for you.

Ade that would be great if someone wouldn't mind taking a look at the car for me. I e-mailed the guy about giving me his address and will post it up if someone doesn't mind. Thanks.
