A Wrx Shaped Ghost From The Past....
Back in 2001, my modded WRX got written off, when a tit in a fiesta (who had been driving 3 hours!) pulled out in front of me in Wilmslow..... the Scooby did some spinning and slamming and ended up in a bad way. All the impact damage was concentrated on the front near side end and down the nearside wing and doors.... it was pretty bad.
Bad enough for it to be written off (and for me to get an M3), no of course, the insurance company don't realy count the aftermarket modification into the mix, but they still considered the damage to write off an

no reason you can't put a lot of write offs back on the road. If they are of a certain grade it's just that the cost to repair at an official dealer etc. is mor ethan half the car's value. You can buy them in that condition and repair them yourself with second hand parts etc. and have a nice cheap car that you couldn't otherwise afford. You need an engineers report to show that the work has been done correctly and then you get an insurance note of some sort to get it unwritten off and taken off the hpi lists, still shows up as damaged recovered but not as a write off.

The point is, most of these "damaged repairables" are adversised as an easy repair.
By the time YOU see them, they've been given a "scientific pump" on a Car-O-Liner. It's amazing how something squashed into a ball will pull straight if you do it right. All of a sudden, it's light frontal, just the panels needed.
What's happened to the tensility and integrity of the floors, pillars etc doesn't bear thinking about.

Exactly the point, the damage the car had was the kind of damage that results in a twist to the chasis, it wasn't a few scrapes and bumps - if thats all it had been, I would of bought the write off and repaired it, I loved the car!!
This was a wreck!
They guy who owns it now, did not have any idea of the extent of the originally damage..... I think that it is a danger to all of us, that there are 4.5 second cards out there, that have been through what my scooby had been through and are back on the road!!!
