Thumbs up The wobbles

Dear all,

Its been a while but suppose things rarely wrong with S2k's.

Anyway recently I have noticed a wobble fron the back end.

My first thoughts were,

1. Tyres need balancing
2. Warped disc as caliper on passenger side was seized on.

I have ruled these out beacause it only happens when I accelerate, cant really feel it at lower speeds, but get worse the fater I go.

When I cruise at say 65 - 70 no wobble but as soon as I hit the gas pedal, the wobble starts again.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Tyre pressures ok? The torsen diff is quite sensitive to odd tyre pressures.

Camber angle off or just worn rears?, does it "shimmy" over pot holes and drain covers? If they are worn the diff won't settle and the power shifts from side to side.

How old is the car? Is it lowered?

If its only under acceleration it could well be a worn cv joint or cup.

Is it worse going round a corner in one direction when accelerating?

I had exactly the same issue. Wobble/vibration under accelleration which stopped when I had got up to speed.

Fitted a set of driveshaft spacers (Garage R do these at a reasonable price) and it sorted it out.

I'm not very mechanically minded so had some help, but it wasnt a particularly difficult job.

My S is not lowered so I suspect it could be down to wear of some of the components.

Thanks all.

No its not lowered and the tyres are not really worn, decent tread left.

Think I will check the pressures.

Oh its a MY52 plate on 75K.

Think I will lift on the ramps and have a quick inspection.

Thanks

Had exacly the same symptoms a few months ago. Rear kicking out under acceleration. Checked the rear tyre pressures and found one was much lower due to a nail in the tyre.

when i had vibration on acceleration, turned out to be one of the driveshafts.
the worn d/shaft was the side that vibrated more when weight is applied on that side of the car (right corner = left side d/shaft knackered)
