Wishes for kids charity event
I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity by Gaspode to attend this event at Donington Park in his place as he has sold the S.
The event is organised by a charity called Wishes for Kids. Every year, petrol heads turn up and give uptheir time for free to take disabled and under privileged kids around Donighton in a sports car for the day.
The day started at 5.00am for me with a long drive up to Donington. I arrived at 9am and was greeted with a fascinating array of cars.
AC Cobra
LP460
Noble
Exige
Not 1 but 3 Ariel Atoms - 1 supercharged!
etc ect
The drivers were briefed and then taken out for a ducks and drakes lap. After a lap or two I decided to make of the most of the time before the event opened. I jumped into an Exige (Spec list for MB - equipped with Ohlins, R888s, AP 4-pots all round) and had one heck of a pax lap. The driver used to race Caterhams and showed me the full potential of the Exige's handling.
I then had a pax lap in a GT2 followed by a lap in the Noble.
The real fun began with taking the kids out on track. They were all up for it and each passenger would ask me to drive fast, very fast!
The tyres took a good caning and the brakes were just about up to the job.
The event finished at 3.30pm and the drivers then gave some of the volunteers pax rides. I seized the moment to get a pax ride in the FI'd Atom.
My face is still distorted from the wind pressure. The ride was nothing short of awesome
I had an absolute blast and the kids were such good sports.

Here are some of my pics - I took one of the Storm Troopers out for a pax ride and showed him the art of drifting
If you ever are lucky enough to be invited to take part in this event, it's for a fantastic cause and it is soooooooo much fun.
