Resurrecting this thread again as I feel it's better than another tyre thread!
Has anyone had any experience with the falken espia winter tyre?
Would rather not spend mega bucks for winter tyres as I don't know how much use they will get!

Follow with some of the existing threads on here I end up getting some Kumhos. Here's an example of the fronts I got:
tyre leaders
These are tyres only prices. All fours I end up paying less than £280. They are from Germany and they got delivered in less than 1 week. I'm not in any association with them but thought I gave my 2p.

Hi guys
Sorry to thread jack OP
Im looking at some Blizzaks however am pondering tyres size. I current only my 2001 AP1 am running 205/50/16 front and 225/55/16 rear.
I have read that the best winter tyre size is 205/55/16 all the way round for my model year, is this correct? If not what would be recommended
Cheers
Mike

I fitted my winters last night. I went for Nokian WRD3s on a set of 16" S2000 wheels.
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Nokian/WR-D3.htm
They perform well in tests and they were £320 for the set of 4, +£10 each for fitting. They're sold as an all season tyre in colder countries so they should be really good for our cold/wet weather, as well as snow. In snow tests they are right up there with Continental; some tests even said they were on top for snow performance. Nokian are a Finnish company after all
My first time out on them was this morning. First impressions are good even though they need a few hundred miles on them to get to their best. The smoothness of the ride is really nice because of the large side wall and softer compound. The only minor problem is that the steering feels a bit vague, but that should improve after a few more miles.
