I had a problem with the windscreen of one of my Honda Legends - a wavy horizontal line just on my line of sight with the horizon. It made other vehicles appear to be jigging up and down.
I was told the windscreen was laminated so that it would not collapse into minute pieces if it shattered (which a toughened one would do, with possible fragments going into the driver's eyes) and had a central rectangle which would stay in large pieces giving better through visibility whilst the outer areas would craze.
Honda replaced the screen and the new one was very much better but, because I knew of the existence of the transition line I kept noticing it from time to time although it was not anywhere as near as annoying as the first one.

I had a similar problem with my A4, when I first drove it I was aware of a slight distortion (almost like wearing a pair of wrongly prescribed glasses) and it gave me a bit of a headache. After driving the car a few times I must have become adjusted to it as I didn't experience any further problems.

...stop eating the mushrooms that are growing in your backyard...
I have experienced this with a lot of different cars. I think that windshields are being made as cheap as possible, with the thought that they are going to be replaced almost every year on average anyway. Probably a result of pressure from the insurance industry. Quality control standards drop. Next time you have it replaced, preview the glass they intend to install!
Good luck!
