Honda FR-V! Plenty of space, 3 seats front and back...and a diesel one due out in Q1 2005! What more could anyone ask!

Graham, the Lexus is a fine option - I went close, but in the end Subaru Forrester, AWD 5-door with a detuned Impreza flat-four engine. They have just introduced an XT Turbo version previously only available in Japan which can go as quick as the S for 4 grand less new. For me spare wheel UNDER the floor in the back was the key, it saves yr back as the floor is higher and th doggies can see out better.
But why are your recent posts so wide? A real PITA. Oh BTW ta for the hat
edit: my 18-month old bog standard low mileage Forrester was

i had one for over two years it was a very good work horse and lexus are great at giving free stuff if anything goes wrong with it, 200 sport is not really sporty, it went well but it took its time, money wise when it came to sell it i got what i wanted and people who wanted it were snapping my hand off. warranty is worth paying for as they cover everything. cheap to service, cheap to insure and safe for the kids and wife. far better than a BMW. cambridge have three black ones in at the moment and are due to get a white one in.

What about a Honda Stream 2.0 iVTEC Sport....the forgotten Honda!
My wife has one and loves it for its practicality (5 seats and big boot or 7 seats and little boot!) and ease of use and I actually enjoy driving it (I do periodically forget I am driving a powerful FWD car and scare myself witless as it understeers when you enter corners too fast ).
A new one is well within your budget
