Sitting in my 04 at the traffic lights the other day, reving the car quite high but not extortionate. Pulled away and within 10 seconds lost complete power, no matter how much i pushed the accelerator and in any gear, couldn't get her going.

Pulled over, but it in neutral and back into first, all ok.

Any ideas?

Did this smell bad - if so, sounds like clutch slip.

I vote 4 a large gulp of hot air ingested!
Get a Cold Air Intake.
Ones to fit 04's are limited!
Mainly PRM style trumpets which aren't much better according to MT

If the car revved but you didn't go anywhere, you slipped the clutch, it happens - a lot - if you go for a quick getaway but don't let the clutch out pretty sharply. You can usually tell by the burnt fish stink in the cabin for a few days after.

If there were no revs and a complete loss of power, probably hot air, especially if you'd been sitting in traffic around town.

Stupid question, but someone has got to ask the obvious...
Was the car warmed up to 3 bars ?

Sounds like clutch slip to me, especially if there was a smell, can't see how the car not been warmed up enough would cause this.

Clutch slip is horrible, only done it once and that was when I realised how poor the S2000's clutch really is! You have to get a very clean start with the S, IMO its best not too bother, easier to keep to lower revs and just wait for the VTEC to hit.

Side stepping the clutch is a little scary but does have the desired affect.
