Why are the main beams not HIDS?

The reason full beam bulbs are not HID is that HIDs take a little time to 'warm up' - not much cop when you flash your lights at someone to warn them you're there.....!

Sounds like this could be a really neat "stealth" instal. Needs lots of pictures when you do it.
Used to have a big pair of Hella's on my mini. My wife's name BTW.
