Why are the main beams not HIDS?
drove in the dark for the first time in ages and noticed that the 'full' beams are not HIDS...they seem very poor compared to the main beam HIDS

you should try a T reg Vectra... My old GSi was appauling - esp considering its willingness to break the speedlimit on country roads. I recall with fond regard those times I had to stop by the side of the road to clean the glass and check they were still working!

Paul, it's a common complaint that the full beam bulbs aren't very good. Which is why so many of us have upgraded to 100W Phillips bulbs. Strictly speaking, they're a bit naughty, since you're only meant to have 50W (or is it 60W? I forget) bulbs for MOT purposes.
But they're soooooooo much better and actually light up the road far enough ahead to actually be of some use.

I've got some HID driving lights which I hope to be fitting soon. They are literally like flood lights fitted to the front of the car - set fire to the hedgerows!!

I got my dealer to do mine while it was in for service - it was simple enough that they didn't charge me.
It's quite possible to do it yourself - the only slight problem is accessing the bulb housing, which can be a bit tricky on one side of the car, and needs you to have pretty small hands!

small hands? bugger.
Mines due a service in 2k time so maybe I'll wait until then. Your dealer didn't have a problem fitting the Rallye bulbs?
(btw, o/t who is your dealer?, I am currently using Avondale in Coventry)

Tachbrook in Solihull, Rob. I've been happy with them to date - Derek, the Service Manager, is very helpful.
They didn't have any problem at all in fitting them.

to be honest since I use the car infrequently in the dark I'll probs leave as standard but I was rather dissapointed by the full beam lights....I was impressed with the HIDS though
