Right Mole, found it:

From the other thread, I compiled all the stats and simplified the comparison in a totally non-puerile or immature way.....

MY04 is 673 mm at the back and 670 mm at the front. The gap between the tyre and the top of the arch is about 25mm.

MY03 is rear 667mm and front 656mm

Thus:

MY03 FNT: 656 BK: 667
MY04 FNT: 670 BK: 673

So the 04 is 14mm higher front and 6mm higher rear. Thats why the sub 04 looks more forward in stance. The 04 has 3mm between front and back the <04 has 11mm.

Look at an old-model XJ8, if you want to see how ridiculously 4x4 an elegant car can look when put on sad fashion-victim big wheels.

The crucial seat measure is the H-point, the distance between the virtual hip pivot point on a compressed seat and the road surface. The dimension is much greater in the S2000 than the MX-5, for example. It is akin to a Mercedes-Benz SLK.

This may be linked to the rumoured stillborn 4 seater saloon that was believed to be spun off the AP1 platform to replace the Prelude.

I agree. The MY04 does look higher and a bit ungainly in fact. You only have to look at the photos in last week's Autocar test report. it is probably as a consequence of the changes made to the ride-height damping in making the overall ride softer, as widely reported.
I reckon it's essentially back to the US market demands for soggy rides that will have brought this all about. It is clear to anyone that their average cars drive like king size beds.
Certainly my MY00 which was registered in January that year and has engine number 2045, sits much lower I reckon. It certainly does'nt have any spacers stuck in it's rear springs and I for one, prefer to drive with my elbows higher than my ar$e!

for all MY04 owners.....I'm only taking the mick.....not being serious..........

right down to business I measured my car last night:-

ground to the bottom edge of the wheel arch (front):- 650mm

ground to the bottom edge of the wheel arch (rear):- 665mm

all in all there's not a great deal in it..........

Ok lets stop this argument. Anyone want to meet me near the A3, A24, Surbiton, Esher, Epsom? Well come along and I am going to beat the hell out of you. Eh? Sorry wrong dream..... Hehehe me is going mad, mad I tell ya.

Ok back to topic if you want to meet up I can bring the 04 and you need to bring an <04 model with a full tank of petrol. We can then look at the cars side by side and also take measurements and take pics. Anyone want to take me up on this? We could always go for a blast afterwards if you want.

Does anyone think we are becoming geeks with this fascination about the height difference in mm between different year cars? I am increasing getting worried that if my wife starts reading this thread she will have to find someone else instead of me! Oh to hell with that thought, I couldn't be that lucky anyway.
