Andy - sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs, but go easy on the motorway - do not exceeed 6000rpm for the 1st 600 miles, and try to vary the rev's whilst on the motorway - don't just cruise at a constant speed in a single gear. And once the car is safely home, check the oil level everytime you put fuel in.
what is the best oil to use btw - synthetic?

I hope to have the 2002 by 16th Dec. I bought car from a dealer in Ascot on 8th Nov.
Delivery date = 14th Dec +/- 2days..... then 2 days for checks.
I cannot wait and will be very, very, very upset if it gets delayed until after Christamas.
I'm getting weekly reports from the dealer. All have been OK so far I hope that it doesn't get worse closer to delivery!
Happy Christmas Lucky Chaps!!

Wow - i'll be very very very impressed if they do manage to get it to you pre-christmas... I heard the first shipment wasn't due until 1st or 2nd week of Jan?
Have they imported it for you or is that a pre-ordered UK car?

When I bought mine it was in the showroom brand new, just winkin' at me. I had to wait 2 weeks to pick it up. Those 2 weeks nearly killed me, I was like a kid at Christmas.
I'm terrible at waiting for anything.

This thread brings back happy memories.
The drive back from brussels was a great way to run it in and familiarise with the car.
BTW, even under 6K, from zero mileage, the car is pretty quick. I chased the garage owner's wife (oo-er missus!) out of the capital in a Legend coupe. keeping up was no sweat.
The oil burn is due to the cylinder bores being made into bare aluminium casting, but reinforced with lycra/kryptonite or something. It takes a long while for the surface to wear in. At 9k, the pistom speed is so fast, the oil gets squished into the top and burned off. The more VTEC, the bigger the oil burn.
Check the oil the morning after, when the car's level and stone cold.
PS - get a long fuel - type funnel, as it's a bugger to get to the filler at the back of the cam casting.
