Default White GPW JDM S2K - Detail

The car in question is a lovely 11 yr old S2000, YOM 1999, originally from Japan in glorious GPW - Gran Prix White.

This colour is very rare as its only available to the JDM. In fact last year, being the last production year of the S2000, 100 GT100 S2000s
were sold all in this unique colour, a first time for the UK Market.

Ok so the usual routine was followed:

Items Used:
Wash - karcher power wash, snow foamer, lambs wool wash mit with 2 bucket method.
Drying - Waffle weave towels, Sonus Der Wunder towels
Claying - Sonus ultra Fine clay
Paint Correction - Milwaukee Rotary using SONUS SFX1 Compounding Pad/Megs W8006 Polishing pad with Menzerna Intensive Polish + Final Finish
Dual Action polisher using Sonus SFX2 + Final Finish and Sonus SFX3 with Carlack Nano
LSP - Carlack Nano Sytem Care
Detailer - Meguiars Quick Detailer
MF's - Sonus - white and green
Wheel Dressing - Autoglym Tyre Dressing
Interior - Secret Degreasing Solution (Similar to APC+ some more surfactants and Diluted)
Paint Depth Gauge Meter
Iso Propyl Alcohol for wipedown
Heat Gun for Windscreen Vinyl removal

Total Time taken around 12 hours.

Due to time contraints there is a limited selection of before and afters, even more so due to the difficulty of capturing all the swirl marks in white.

The car was washed and clayed. Not a lot of contaminants were present though there was quite a bit of overspray all over the car.

This is the car after washing. The paint was not in exceptionally good condition, in some areas it was nearly flat - hence the need for a compounding pad.

The PDG showed pretty health readings all throughout the body except the boot.

Mudguard :

Bonnet

Near Side showing normal readings:

A test to find the right combination was carried out and the best combo was a Sonus SFX1 compunding Pad with Menzerna Intensive polish.
Two passes using the Zenith Technique were performed followed by one or two passes with a Megs W8006 pad and Power Finish.

Honda paint is usually VERY SOFT but this car had seen some work over the years hence why the paint thickness was all over the place with the resulting differing paint hardness.

Most of the car was flat or non reflective:

Some 50/50 shots of the mudguard and the drivers door:

Drivers Door:

After:

Some strange sanding/compounding marks by a previous job on the rear quarter:

Before:

After:

One side all polished:

Mugen Tip before:

Mugen Tip after:

And some bonnet reflection shots after jewelling:

And break Time:

Patrick the owner busy removing the horrible Vinyl wrapping around the windscreen:

After IPA wipe down we could admire some nice reflections and a clear white windscren surround!

Now it was time to tackle the interior and try out a nice new formulation.

Here are some 50/50 on both seats. Note that clean leather is MATT whilst dirty used leather with dirty pores tends to become shiny and loose the texture.

Passenger seat 50/50

The finished seat:

Sills and Door shuts using some more APC formulation:

Wheels before and after:

Before application of LSP I did a final inspection:

The I got the urge to detail this van: haha only kidding!!!

Ok on with the LSP:

This was applied using a Dual Action polisher using a Final Finish Pad (sonus SFX3 - Red pad)

Whilst applying the product and waiting for it to cure:

And the product ready for removal:

Polished headlight (removal of yellowing) and application of LSP: (only end result)

And these are some reflection shots after LSP:

And that my friends is the end of this lovely detail!

I hope you enjoyed it!
