Are these wheels really that bad?

Is colour that important, Minv? Phil's wheels are in good condition, so why not buy them and live with them being silver for a little while, until you want to splash some more cash on powder coating, and use the Goodyears until they need replacing - they're better tyres IMO (driving on the bare metal rims is better than RE050's IMO), then get Bridgestones at that time if you still want them.

It's not big compromise and you end up with the right wheels.

I found the Rota shop about as much use as a chocolate fire guard , useless , never had stock or had any idea what was coming or what was in the next container which frankly just gave me the pip and being old and grumpy I told them so! ROTAs are cheap cast wheels mostl likely ok.

Enkei after all made the OEM wheels in the first instance and in the guise being talked of RPFO1 and PFO1 as a serious step up from cast wheels being a sort in between manufacturing process cast and then forged , the tyre fitter who put my tyres on was surprised how light the PF01 are .

The cost of full forged like Rays is high

My wheels do not rub at all !

^Chippoid's wheels don't rub, but his personality does grate a little.

As a fellow MCB owner with PF01's, I recommend you go for the OEM wheels

I have to agree that Rota do make some nice looking wheels, but from what I've read by the reliable people of the internet, Rota wheels crack when they fail, and then you're potentially in big poop. I'd rather have wheels that bend when they fail (like OEM).

If for some unfortunate reason something happens that causes all the spokes to crack, the extra damage caused will be more than the saving made buying them.

Down south the roads are pretty so I couldn't risk it. Besides, the OEM wheels look nice I think. If you have the time, you could do the refurb/colouring yourself. Mightycarmods did a good video on that. That only problem is 2K is so much better than what us plebs are allowed to use so the paint will probably chip easily if DIY. Or just bullpoop your way into buying 2K and make sure you don't coat your lungs in paint (or anyone elses).

Yup.

Why d'you think they cannot be bothered to offer correct offsets?

Casting aren't strong enough to take the loadings is my best reckoning.

Pose-wheel, not a driving wheel.

Oh and after John Stuart Mill and all that, whatever you choose, FFS use the appropriate wheelnuts (taper or bevelled) to suit the roadwheel.

Roadwheels are pretty safety-critical in my estimation.

Minvo, I have a set of facelift V2s in very good nick complete with cenrte caps and nearly new Eagle asymmetric F1s. Let me know if interested.
I have also had an offer from dls for his wheels.
The problem is that the Honda wheels seem to be "worth more" than the brand new Rotas.
If I purchase yours then I will need to spend £70 per wheel on getting them the right colour which reduces the amount I would want to pay.

Unless you are happy parting with the wheels (without tyres) for £300 then I will be better off getting the Rotas.

Cheers for the offer anyway!

S
No problem, not in a hurry to sell.

In my opinion, I've yet to see wheels better suited to the S than Honda's facelift V3s, with the next best being their V2s. I suspect others think similarly which explains why they are chickens' molars.

Whatever you do, don't spend money on wheels you're not completley in love with, you'll regret it if you do.
