Default Wheels - I give up

OK - I've read the wheel FAQ thing, I've read the tyre FAQ thing - maybe it's just me - but I just cannot get my head around finding wheels that will just fit and replace the OEM wheels.

I've just been looking on Wheelbase and called and spoke to them and apparently the ONLY wheels they offer in a staggered offset suitable for an s2000 are OZ racing ones at £1500 a set?????

Surely this cant be right?

I am not hugely technically minded - I have tried my best to follow the logic of offsets, rubbing, rolling arches etc etc and I get most of it but I am just ending up more and more confused in terms of what options I have for some wheels that will just work.

Basically I am doing lots of trackdays and have just mashed my Bridgestones doing too many laps at Brands Hatch GP last week so I want to put some Toyo Proxes on a set of new wheels to keep for trackdays - and ideally I want to get some 5 spoke white wheels. Can anyone help with some actual recommendations of wheels that would work\?

There are only about two options, to get the correct sizes/offsets. Ignore all that poseur bollocks about wheelarches - the offset is calculated from the centre line of the steering kinpin and that's why you don't want to deviate too far from OEM.

The only real options are:

Advans

GPs

Or buy a S/H set of OEMs & get them powder-coated white.

There must be loads of redundant OEM 16" wheels out there going begging, free to 'good home' or are you looking for something more exotic??.

I looked at OZ Racing Alleggerita HLT alloys in 17" as they've got good offsets for the S2000 (can't remember exactly what now), but as they are £900 odd I decided to get a good set of used AP2V1 original alloys instead.

This, with R888s. I use OEM sized fronts and 245/45/16 rears, mainly because 245/45/16 are cheaper than 225/50/16. Unless the OP has a BBK which won't fit under 16s?

I wouldn't have white wheels on a track car! The brake dust will embed itself in the powdercoat in no time and you'll never get them clean.

I have a set of OEM 16" wheels, professionally painted in gunmetal, with good Toyo R888s on, in the standard tyre sizes. I sold my S earlier this year but still have these.
If the OP wants them I'd be looking for £400 collected (or meet somewhere within say 25 miles of Birmingham).
If he doesn't want them, then I must get around to photographing them and doing a FS thread. If I need to renew membership by that stage then I will!
