Default Wheel Refurb

I have had to recently replace due to an accident a wheel on my 2005 S2K. The others now look poor in comparison (altough by no means wrecked) so I've looked at getting them diamond cut refurbed. I've been told though that this isn't possible as they will be too thin by the centre cap. The wheels have never had any work done on them. Their sugestion was to

spray bright silver which I though a mad choice after just having a new one fitted!

Anyone had any experience in having an old set diamond cut to look original? If so where? I'm South East or Wales based.

I had my wheels refurbished after buying the car. They were stripped back, cleaned up and repainted. One year later they still look great.
Done by Wheelrite near Spalding, Lincolnshire for £70 each.

Pro Alloys at Melksham did mine 3 years ago, still looking good. Price included removing/ refitting tyre so you know there going to take care with them.

I had mine silver painted in 2013 on a 2002 car. Now 6 years later there is about one blemish about 20p coin size, but only visible if you know it. You pay about £ 60 / wheel for silver paint and it's something that can be done locally. Diamond cut is a specialist skill and may cost double or three times.

Someone is telling porkies, diamond cutting is perfectly possible I know I had it done. But I would advise against it as it causes a weak spot not in the structure but in the lacquer coating, you will find moisture and corrosion will creep in after a year or two and totally spoil them. Far better to chose an all over silver finish that will last.

i assume they are talking significant curbing damage they need to machine back. i have seen a Bentley where the wheels had been refurbed and left dangerous due to this (according to the wheel guy who was looking at them the rim was now too thin.. if its cosmetic you just need to find a specialist but also accept it wont last as everyone else said

I was told that they could fill kerbing with a matching alloy weld but it would need to go to a specialist for it, ended up going for a Honda bright sparkle full powdercoat (or something like that) it wasn't OEM S2000 but didn't have too much flake to make it look like a 1970's Hotwheels car. I'd love to go back and get them diamond cut now I have spare cash but sensibly you have to expect them to last only a few years.

The OP said it was at the centre cap it would be a problem and as it's their first refurb that's utter rubbish I guess they just didn't want to do the job, or didn't have the equipment so would have to farm it out.
