If they are using the same wheels in JP and UK, that may explain why their S2000's curb weights are so close together (see this thread). But that also means the JP/UK wheels are a LOT lighter than the US wheels. But what about the six-spoke wheels I've seen for the JDM models? You mean those are not standard in Japan?

The wheels on my 02 are very similar to the US type. Spokes do not go all the way to the rim edge.
Have to say I hadn't noticed the difference from 01 to 02 wheels until reading this thread

I thought the JDM Honda 16" six spoke wheels are an option in Japan, but the five spoke wheel was standard.

I have a set of each. I use the six spoke forged wheels with my summer tires and the five spoke USA standard wheels with my Blizzaks.

All this is very bizzare - why would Honda make life so complicated for itself? It is not as if the wheel designs are significantly different and are thus catering for percieved regional taste

I do wish the UK OEM wheels did not disolve on contact with water
Actually they are an option in Japan. They are made by BBS and are lighter and stronger but have the same dimensions of the stock five spoke wheels.

I'm just guessing, but it could be that Enkei either couldn't or wasn't willing to meet Honda's complete supply needs for this wheel. Or, alternatively, perhaps Honda has to keep its suppliers happy by giving them each a piece of the action on a car like the S2000.

Can one of our British brethren check their wheels to see if there's a stamp that says who made them?

British wheels are Enkei. I've a warrany claim for a new set due to corrosion. I'm surprised at the porr quality of the wheel from Enkei - I really rated the wheels on my ITR which were Enkei.
