Default Whats your worst experience of heat soak?

Waiting at the Severn Bridge tolls last night for about 10 minutes - quite a large queue due to holiday traffic etc....

I dont mind though, cos when the barrier lifts you have about quarter of a mile of action!

However, when I when to give it a bit of jip, it was totally flat and struggles to rev passed 4k! Also was spluttering and generallly rubbish!!!

I eased off and nursed it at 60 for about a mile, then it seemed to sort itself out again?

I am HOPING that it was just a bad case of 'soak! Am I being a bit optimistic?

Heat soak or the MAP playing up, or both

Normally after a couple of throttle blips it will gulp the hot air.

Snorkel helps.

Yeah - I am guessing it was nothing too serious, seems fine now...

Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar?

Does the MAP sensor throw up the EML?

I seem to get this too... worried me the first time it happened but then quickly realized what was the cause... Just goes to show you how temperature plays a role in performance!!

There aren't many ways to reduce heat soak at lights etc is there? apart from the bonnet vents... right?

As mentioned, a snorkel helps. I've got one and it does the trick nicely.

Venting the bonnet may help...search the US part of the site for a good thread.

With summer coming I've been thinking about this and after lagging the airbox and induction pipe with heat reflective foil tape I've found some cold air trunking in the garage, so I thought I'd bore a hole(approx 2") just in front of the standard air tube and feed the trunking down to the side of the grill, can't do any harm.?
I usually blip the throttle a couple of times as the traffic moves off, it helps get rid off the hot air too.
