There's a great bit of road in edinburgh where it is 60 then 30 for 20 yards and then 60 again!!!
Great fun trying to adhere to it, (it's actually impossible unless you are driving a bike)

It's on a CORNER!

The whole reason with the NSL sign is that the limit is different for different vehicles. You can't have a sign as you enter the motorway saying 70 because lorries and weekend gypsies aren't allowed to go that fast. The NSL sign is just a cheap 'cover all sins' sign used by the government.

Good point raised about the highway code as well, it has changed a lot in the last 50 years and the government should put more onus on people being up to date with it.

How about a compulsory written driving test for everyone who hasn't sat one before? Or a compulsory re-take every ten years, so everyone is forced to keep up to date?
