What would buy for 33K?
Hi
I'm thinking of changing my S for something else, the wife drives the car a lot and doesn't like the feeling of the backend hanging out and moving about a bit, it's just a lack of confidence on her part and not an issue with the car. I personally love the handling, but it's not much fun for her traveling home on cold winter nights. With the Impreza she could just get her toe down and not have to worry.
Been looking at various cars lately and have a larger budget of 33k to spend, but due to the S being such good value and performance it's a hard act to follow.
Been looking at the 996, but for that sort of money I've got, the cars are too old (97-98).
Then there's the boxsters which is to pricey, common and to close to the S in performance to justify the cost.
TVR Tomra is an option on a 02 model with very low miles (I know the TVR's meant to be a bit skittish as well by the way), but the running costs are really high and reliability worries me. I've ruled the Tuscan out due the reliability also.
Or
Could go for a weekend/track day toy car like an Elise and get something else though the week?,
but no other car I've had has been as much fun and cheap to run as the S2000.
The car/cars have got to be reliable, not to old and not cost silly money to run.
Any Suggestions?

trade up to a MY04 and tell er indoors they've fixed the handling. then run like f*ck when she discovers they ain't
btw I don't know they are claiming a less active rear end but am guessing it might go with other ease of use tweaks e.g. more torque?

Yeah - make some sense !!!!
You start of saying that your wife doesn't like feeling of the rear wheeled S2000 and then list cars like TVR's and Boxsters !!!
Sounds like you want to change cars for yourself !

I considered a Tuscan back in April, but couldn't really justify having it as well as the S, which I'm very attached to. I was also worried it'd spend too much time in Blackpool
I've seen articles saying the Maserati 3200 is good value, but likely scare the wife more than the S and cost a lot more to run!

Don't sell, there ain't nothing to beat the good 'ole S2 for price, handling, cost of ownership and rarity.
Failing that, I personally would get an XKR, easy to drive, got the poke if need be and quite cheap? (Excluding servicing and FUEL!!)
