What is the thick clear coating on my door sill?

Thumbs up What is the thick clear coating on my door sill?
I have just noticed an area just below the hinge of my door nearwhere the paint finishes under the car where this thick (.5mm?) coating is peeling off.

It is like varnish, is it underseal?

Anyone know how to repair it or seal the edges so no more comes off?

So is the whole car covered in that?

Any easy way to stop the hole getting bigger?

The top edge is close to the visible part of the door panel.

I had this on my MY00 - its a coating that was applied when new I think. I found the cert for it in my documents...

Does look like laquer coming off, has it ever been repainted on the door.

Looks like a bodyshop job to me.
