What RPM do you cruise around at?

Seems an odd question;
The revs depend entirely on the output required.
Around town or in traffic, cruising at around 2000rpm is usual.
If decent acceleration is required, 4-5 seems about right, occasionally 6 if a bit of a spurt is required.
If the road is open and since so much journey time is wasted accelerating, just under 9 seems as good a point as any.
Cruising over 6 does significantly increase fuel consumption. Which can be a PIA on a long journey, since the tank is small.

driving round in 6th at low speeds will often give worse mpg due to the throttle opening being bigger to accelerate etc... when I was on holiday drove a bluemotion golf hire car which told you when you should shift up and down for the best fuel consumption... was quite interesting how often it was saying to shift down, higher revs but less throttle needed etc

If I'm driving in a speed restricted area I'll choose a lower gear/higher revs than I would in other cars in order to curb the tendency for the speed to creep up. So I'm usually around 4 - 5k rpm. Not good for the mpg I know, but cheaper than points on the licence and the associated hike in insurance premiums or, god forbid, losing my licence completely!
For cruizing i go for the highest gear poss without straining the engine.

Tis an odd question.
You keep the revs to whatever the car feels comfortable with (you should be able to feel this), or what the situation requires (ie if you predict a break in the traffic and need to punish people)
Torque is flat under VTEC so if you need to pull away quicker you need to be revving higher in the power band...

Not sure that keeping the revs high in a low gear is the way forward to avoid gathering speed. Cus that is exactually how i aim to gain speed. And the only to keep up with other traffic with a greater torque figure.
