My S02s were awesome - if I get another S in the future, it will have S02s on it. People that moan about the S02 a: listen to hype or b: are too pussy to drive it properly
I sold the car and the originals had done 13,500 miles.
Anyone that gets 13,500 miles out of a set of rears must drive like a poof.

The majority of people that think S02s are a good tyre have *never* tried another tyre so have nothing to compare with.

I have tried both, and the S02s definitely have superior dry turn in and grip. The winter compromise is too great though and if I ran my car as a daily, year round, driver there is no way I would use them.

F1 GS-D3s are an improvement over GS-D2s in this respect ...... but you need 17" wheels to get the right size.

wampa, have you had a look through the tech faq in my sig? There's a section on buying in there that will be fairly useful. There's also a buyers guide at the top of the For sale forum.

Just for that, you can buy Chinese as well as all the beers tonight!

F1 and S02 rears were typically good for 10-12K miles, depending on how you drive, in my experience. I think I got around 21K miles out of the F1 fronts (but there was life left in them when I had to put S02s back on to p/x them)

Nothing wrong with S02s as long as you're mindful of their limitations when its cold and wet, especially if the car is just going to be a "toy" rather than a daily drive commuting car.
