Default What is this part?

Hey guys, still getting to grips with my s2000 and finding bits here and there that I am not sure are standard or not lol...

What is this part? Looks like some sort of brace underneath the car...it doesn't look standard to me simply because of the colour....is it standard? If not, what is it?

Thanks

cheers, what exactly is it for? Stiffening? To help handling?

On another note, do the s2000s come with a front upper strut brace...mine has one of those too lol.

No upper front strut brace as standard.

The bracing helps maintain the suspension geometry under load.

Ah ok, so I have a strut brace on the front too then, and there is one in the rear, guessing that isn't standard either lol...wonder what else I will find

That's a Whiteline front lower brace, much like mine.

There are standard ones on the rear, but certainly the lower one is well worth replacing anyway.

Best tell your insurance company about your new finds and let them rape you over properly for modifying your car...

All my mods declared only cost me an extra £46 including me telling them I was going to put an exhaust on the car so they don't necessarily ass rape you...although it can happen depending on who you're with.

For the record if you're looking to see whether you have an after market lower rear brace it will sit just behind the diff looking from the rear of the car. It'll either be shiny or a pretty colour if its after market

Privilege wanted me to pay 260 for declaring my exhaust... Needless to say they've lost a customer.

So, having seen upper, lower, front and rear braces on various S2Ks - and seeing the obviousness of their contribution to rigidity - what real-world, A-road difference do they make?
