Default what oil and filter to use

Hi all
I have searched round but cannot find a definitive answer,

I use my car regular as an everyday car and do drive it hard now and then but not sure what grade oil to use or what oil filter
what would you suggest?

The car is a 2004 with roughly 32k on the clock

Thanks

It will be in the FAQ and there must be about a 100 threads on this , you aint searched that hard .

IIWU i'd use a honda oil filter only, and castrol edge 5w30.

Honda filter all the time, they arent expensive and really easy to do an oil & filter change by yourself

silly not to use a Honda filter. Use fully synthetic after 1st service - Castrol Edge and Mobil 1 seem the most preferred options here.

Honda oil filter
Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel 5-40 (You can certainly use 5-30/0-40 if you so wish, however Honda recommend the 5-40)

Scroll down towards the bottom.

It's in the technical FAQ on the main UK page

Owners manual also tells you.

Excuse my ignorance here, but are you deffo saying it's absolutely acceptable to put oil ostensibly recommended for turbo-diesels (Castrol Edge 5W-40) in the S?? As in oil is just oil and no fundemental difference in oils recommended for diesels or petrols?? In that case, why bother saying recommended for turbo-diesels in the first place Just the weight per se that's recommended for turbo-diesels then?

Loads of people on here are running Edge TD - and its recommended by Opie.

Although that doesn't really answer your question!

98 Ron, it's a bit of an odd one in the branding / naming, but it's totally fine on the S2000.

I e-mailed Castrol Uk asking about the Turbo Diesel and this is the reply...

Hi John
Interestingly I've just done an email to another S2000 owner extolling
the virtues of EDGE Turbo Diesel 5W-40.

Unfortunate that our marketing department decided to call it that to try
and pigeon hole it within a certain market segment - totally irrelevant
though as it is totally suitable for petrol engines as well ( Note the
ACEA A3 petrol specification ), and is the ONLY oil that I would
recommend for your Honda.
Just ignore the name - it will be perfect.

Kind regards
