Prevention is better than cure in the S case at anything more than 20 mph IME, especially with the earlier models.
Cornering is awesome in the dry if you set things up right and are smooth, and that's one of the challenges that makes the car so much fun.

I had only driven RWD a few times (all on track!) until last month. You just have to have respect for the car. Just been out in the torrential rain with huge amounts of standing water, the car felt a lot more planted than my Fiat Coupe did (250bhp FWD). For me the biggest surprise over FWD is how much more smoother you need to be. Warm tyres make a big difference too...
